Haven Care is a clinic committed to providing free, reliably accessible, and high quality medical care to the local Liberian community. MALARIA

Endemic in Liberia and elsewhere in sub-Saharan Africa, malaria is the most commonly treated illness at Haven Care. Without treatment, malaria causes dehydration, anemia, widespread organ dysfunction, and can be fatal. Haven Care is equipped to quickly diagnose malaria and provide the supportive care that can make the difference between life and death.
 

PNEUMONIA

Because of limited access to basic medical care, many respiratory infections go untreated in Liberia. As a result, pneumonia is a common presentation at Haven Care where treatment with oxygen and antibiotics is available.
 

DIArrheal diseases

Poor access to sources of clean water and unsanitary living conditions make diarrheal disease - both preventable and treatable - a staggering cause of child mortality in Liberia.

Haven Care offers supportive care to patients presenting with diarrheal disease and provides education about safe water and sanitation practices to all patients.

vaccines

The 2014 Ebola outbreak reversed much of the progress made in Liberia’s capacity to distribute vaccines to children. Estimates indicate that as many as 40-50% of eligible children do not receive routine immunizations which makes the broader population vulnerable to outbreaks of devastating but preventable infectious diseases.
 

Pregnancy and perinatal care

The regular check ups, lab tests, and ultrasounds offered to expectant mothers in developed nations are nearly nonexistent in Liberia. Haven Care provides care to pregnant women and offers reliable access to safe and dignified birthing conditions.

There is limited capacity in Liberia to test for, treat, and vaccinate against COVID. Misinformation about COVID and stigma about infectious disease make COVID an ongoing threat to Liberians. Haven Care offers supportive medical care and distributes information about COVID.
